Coy's 4-month Newsletter

Dear Coy,
Last week, you turned 4-months old. I can't believe how quickly time has passed since you were born. Everything about our life is so much different from the days before you were born. We live in a new house in a new city in Texas, and of course, there is you. At 4-months, you have already captured my heart and wrapped me around your little finger. A simple smile from you from across the room is all that I need to turn a bad day good. And, those smiles are endless. It seems that since you have learned to smile, you are rarely with out one - giving them out to everyone you meet. And, boy, do the ladies love you! It's hard not to with those gorgeous blue eyes and big ol' dimples. We are going to be in trouble later.

Last week was a big one in your short life -- lots of firsts. Last week you rolled over from your tummy to your back, and seemed really surprised that you did it. I am convinced now that is was an accident, because you haven't been able to do it again. Not that I am complaining. I am perfectly happy with a boy who stays where you put him!

Last week you also endured your first sibling abuse - or more specifically, your brother threw a toy at you. It hit you squarely in the nose and you screamed (rightly so, because it was a big, heavy toy). He had to sit in time out, then apologize and give you a kiss. Something for you to think about as you are planning your revenge. I wish I could tell you that it won't happen again, but I think we both know that is not true. In fact, witnessing the first act made the next 18 years of my life flash before me, and I was brought to my knees with the thought of how many times I am going to say "Stop hitting your brother". If this whole theory of what goes around comes around has any merit, your dad and I have it coming with you boys -- just ask your uncle Josh and aunt Jessica.

Last week marks the first time you ate solid food - rice cereal to be exact. Calling this gruel "solid food" is a stretch at best. You are not a fan of this new experience, and I don't blame you. In fact, you are now refusing to even let the spoon in your mouth. I wonder if you will be the first child in history to refuse to eat from a spoon.

Last week you also brought your awesome ability to sleep to a whole new level. You have been sleeping for 6-8 hours a night for the last couple of months. But, last week this turned to 10-11 hours. I think I might be the first mother to ever have to consistently wake her 4-month old at 8:00 AM, after sleeping the entire night. Just one of the many reasons that make you one of the easiest babies to mother.

Of course, I used to say the same thing about your brother, and then he turned 2 . . . .

Love,
Momma

What an awesome idea, I wish I would have done that with Zander from the beginning.

He is beautiful. He looks like Brandon. I think it is a great idea too (stolen or not)I wish I would have done it for my kids. They always ask questions about when they were babies and I really have to think and sometimes can't remember ????
