Coy at the Little Gym

So, you know when you find a missing memory card, stick it in your computer, and a little bit of forgotten happiness pops up on the screen?  It happened to me today when I discovered these lost photos of Coy at his Little Gym class. . . . .

Rich and famous, someday

Remember those photos from the YMCA of Tate golfing? Well, it turns out they wanted to use him on the posters and website for the upcoming YMCA Golf Tournament. Check it out . . . .

They also gave us a copy of the poster and told us when Tate is a professional golfer he needs to autograph it and return it to them . . . . I am just hoping he is good enough to pay for college.

Golf Camp at the YMCA

Tate has been participating in a program at our YMCA called "Small Fry Sports". Each month, they introduce the kids to a new sport. July is golf and it has been Brandon's, um I mean, Tate's favorite. The photos really speak for themselves . . . .

Sorry for the absence . . . .

I want to apologize for my recent absence from the world of blogging. Brandon was giving me grief that it has been a month (or more) since my last posts (except for my most recent ones in that week or so), but my excuse is very valid. I have found this recent burst of motivation for getting projects done around the house, and I have been taking full advantage of it: making curtains for the living room, re-decorating Coy's room, the bathroom and various other rooms throughout the house, cleaning out and organizing closets and junk drawers. Oh yeah, and family coming to visit, working and taking care of the kids. Also, we have made some new friends in the neighborhood and it seems we have been spending a lot of time with them enjoying this very mild winter weather with walks around the neighborhood, trips to the park and outings to the big world of bounce houses (a place for which $5 goes a looooong way!).

So, here are some photos and some quick updates on what is going on with us . . .

Coy is sitting up like a champ and REALLY wants to get moving around. He is starting to get up on all fours, scooting and rolling, and I don't think it will be too long before he is crawling. Also, he has 2 teeth on the bottom and two on top (they have just broken through). He thinks his brother is HILARIOUS and laughs at him constantly throughout the day.
He knows and responds to his name, eats all sorts of baby foods, has recently mastered the "pincher" grasp and now loves puffs. He is getting pretty good at drinking from a sippy cup and is generally just growing up too fast! I get a pit in my stomach when I think about the fact that he is already 8-months old.

Tate, or as he is also known (pick your favorite), monster man, Tater-bug, Taterbuggy, Tater-tot, Tater tater bug man, the bug, Mr. bugman, Tate PAUL Nelson, and the list goes on. Well, he is great and getting bigger and smarter everyday. We are constantly amazed with the thoughts he comes up with, the things he remembers and just his general curiosity about everything.

He is loving soccer and is bummed that this last weekend was the last soccer camp. Next month is flag football and I have a sneaking suspicion that he will like this just as much, if not more. He has already told me that he wants to wear a helmet . . . I imagine there are going to be some tears when he finds out that there are no helmets in flag football (and stay posted for a video of soccer . . . you will see jumping jacks in a whole new light).
Brandon has just accepted a new job with a new company. He is starting in a few weeks. We hope he will find happiness and excel in his new position. I am confident he will -- he always does. In the meantime, I think he will try to squeeze in as much golf as he can . . . wait? I guess that is not really any different than any other time.

Me? Well, I am trying to keep up with it all and finding that there is always too much to do and not enough time to do it. But, things are great and I love every minute of it and I wouldn't change anything.

Hope all is well with you!

A Future David Beckham?

We signed Tate up for a program through our local YMCA called "Small Fry Sports". The point of the program is to introduce 3-4 year olds to new sports . Every month they introduce a new sport. February is soccer month and Tate could not have been more excited. On this particular morning, I got up early and headed over to the YMCA so I could get a work out in before the big event.

Brandon and Tate were arriving just as I was walking into the lobby to meet up with them. I have never seen a smile like this on Tate's face. Brandon said the smile was there from the minute they put on the soccer socks, and it didn't leave until well after soccer was over (though the pictures didn't exactly capture this). And, do I even need to point out how much Tate looks like Brandon? Especially when you dress him up in an orange t-shirt and blue gym shorts -- or as I like to call it, the "Brandon-at-home" uniform.
